What your contacts are told
You decide what an alert contains. At minimum, your contacts are told you missed a check-in. You can add more, and every addition is yours to choose.
What an alert can include
- That you missed a check-in. Always.
- When you last checked in. Optional.
- A note you wrote. Optional. It is sealed on your phone, so Chillswitch cannot read it. A general note is free, a different note for each group is free, and a note written for one specific person is part of a paid plan.
- Where you set out from. Optional, and shared only if you go quiet. It is a past location, not a current one. See location settings.
- Your route, if you chose to record one for an outing or distress. See route recording.
Open Settings > What you send them to see a plain-language summary, such as "Your contacts are told you missed a check-in, when you last checked in, and whatever note you have written."
Default note
If you write nothing, contacts see: "I haven't checked in. Please try to reach me, and follow up if you can't."
What an alert never includes
- Your live location. Nobody can watch you move.
- A claim of emergency. Chillswitch only knows you have not confirmed.
- Anything Chillswitch's servers can read. Alert content is sealed on your device.
Examples
Walking home late: a general note such as "Walking home the long way. Ring me before you worry."
Traveling: a longer grace period, your itinerary in the note, and your last known place.
