Safety contacts explained
A safety contact is someone who agrees to be told if you go quiet. They hear from Chillswitch only then, never before, and they do not see where you are unless you choose to share it.
Roles in your circle
Role | What it means |
|---|---|
Safety contact | Told if you miss a check-in. Can start a roll call and add or remove people on a list they share. |
Member | On a group list and asked to confirm they are alright when a roll call goes out. Never told about anyone's missed check-in. |
Group lead | Can start roll calls, manage members, and coordinate response. Never alerted for personal check-ins. |
Primary contact | A safety contact the others are told to start with. See primary contacts. |
It runs both ways
- Counting on you lists the people you look out for. Each shows a mark with initials: a circle while all is well, a hexagon once a deadline has passed, a triangle once the grace period ran out. Words appear beside the shape, so status never relies on color.
- Safety contacts lists the people who look out for you.
Consent
- No one becomes your safety contact without accepting. Offers to look out for someone work the same way: they decide, and they can end it whenever they like.
- Invitations explain what the person is agreeing to before they accept.
- You can remove a safety contact (a missed check-in stops reaching them) or, as a contact, step down (you stop being told; they are told you stepped down so they can ask someone else).
- If you step down while the person is overdue and they left you a vault message, you will not receive it. The app warns you first.
Blocking and reporting
You can block or report an account. Blocking immediately removes lists you share, requests, offers, and questions, and does not notify them. Reports send only the reason, an optional note, and account IDs to the service operators.
