Run a roll call

A roll call asks a closed group to confirm now. You see a live count against a known roster: confirmed, not yet, overdue, and unreachable.

Start one

  1. Open the group and choose Ask everyone in [group] to check in now.
  2. The sheet shows how many people get a notification ("One person gets a notification now," "12 people get a notification now").
  3. Choose how long to give them to answer.
  4. Choose whether you are on the list. If you are, you answer too; if you are asking, the count is of everybody else.
  5. Optionally set a place to check in from. See roll calls from a place.
  6. Send it.

Asking a whole group to check in is part of a paid plan. Answering is always free.

What members see

A card titled Roll call with the group name and the time left. Members tap I'm accounted for. If the roll call counts a place, the card tells them first.

What you see

  • A headline such as "6 of 8 confirmed," with "1 overdue · 1 still to answer" below.
  • A row for each person with a mark and a word: Confirmed, Not yet, Overdue, Unreachable, Answered elsewhere, or Couldn't tell.
  • A reach count such as "7 of 8 can hear," a count and never a list of names. It tells you when a roll call would reach nobody because notifications are off.
  • Export summary, which lets you share the roll call as text for a handoff.

Follow up on someone

A responder can tap I'll check on them on a missing person's row so nobody duplicates the call. Others see "[Name] is checking on them." Hand back releases it.

Call it off

If plans change, Call it off closes the ask. It may already have closed.

What a roll call proves

Each line is what that person's phone reported. It is not proof of where anyone was.
