Grace period

The grace period is the wait between a missed deadline and the first alert to your contacts. It exists so a late reply, a dead zone, or a busy hour does not worry the people who care about you.

Options

  • Immediate: for high-risk situations. As soon as the deadline passes, your contacts are told.
  • Standard: 30 minutes, for a typical day.
  • Extended: 3 hours, for travel.
  • Custom: any wait up to 24 hours.

The app summarizes your choice, for example "We wait 30 minutes past your deadline, then tell your safety contacts."

Where to set it

Open Settings > How often you check in, then the section "If you miss it, wait before telling them." A one-off outing has its own grace period that applies to that check-in only.

During the grace period

You keep being reminded. Checking in at any point during the grace period means no alert is sent. If you are hiking or traveling somewhere with poor signal, a long grace period absorbs the dead zones.
