“Going out?” one-off check-ins
Going out? is a one-off check-in due by a time you pick. It suits an errand, a walk, a first date, or an adventure. When you check in, your normal schedule resumes.
Start one
- Tap Going out? under the switch, or open Settings > Going out?.
- Choose one check-in, due by a time you pick.
- Optionally change how long Chillswitch waits before telling anyone, for this outing only.
- Optionally write a message for this outing. If you go quiet, your contacts read it.
- Optionally turn on Include route in the alert to record your route during the outing. It needs "When you're going out" turned on in Location settings.
- Tap Start.
While it is running
- The switch shows when you are due by ("by 9:30 PM") rather than a ticking countdown, so you are not watching the clock all evening.
- You can change the time (the check-in keeps running and nobody is told you are back) or end the check-in if plans change. Ending it hands you back to your repeating schedule and nobody is told anything. Do this if plans changed, not instead of checking in.
- Hold the switch when you are safe. Your usual schedule resumes.
Plans
Free accounts can try one "Going out?". More outings, attaching a place, and recording the route are part of paid plans.
What your contacts get
If you go quiet, they receive your usual alert plus your outing message and, if you chose it, your route. Routes are never live. See route recording.
