Pause or stop check-ins
A pause means nobody is told you have gone quiet while it lasts. Use it for a flight, a ski day, or somewhere with no signal.
Pause check-ins
- Open the dashboard and toggle Active off, or open Settings > Pause check-ins.
- Choose how long. Free accounts can pause for up to 12 hours. Paid plans can pause for up to 7 days at a time or choose a custom length.
- Tap Pause my check-ins.
Your check-in comes back on its own when the pause ends. The people who look out for you can see that you paused, and when it ends.
Stop check-ins altogether
If you are away for longer than 7 days, or want to stop for good, choose Stop checking in (also found as Stop check-ins altogether). Your safety contacts stop expecting check-ins, and anyone already alerted is told you are accounted for. Your contacts stay, so you can start again when you want.
Pause versus quiet hours versus "Going out?"
- A pause switches everything off for a stretch.
- Quiet hours repeat and only change when you are asked.
- Going out? replaces your schedule for one outing and then returns to it.
Before you rely on a pause
Check that the pause end time is what you intended. After it ends you owe a check-in on your usual schedule. If you will be unreachable longer than a pause allows, stop check-ins and start them again when you return.
