Access limits

Access limits let one person help set up another's check-in, with that person's agreement. They see the exact values on their own phone, and nothing changes unless they approve.

Propose a setup

  1. Open Settings > Set access limits (or Your circle > Set access limits on a person).
  2. Choose Help with their setup and select the person on your plan.
  3. Set their check-in interval and grace period, or their quiet hours, within the safety range.
  4. Send for approval. Nothing changes until they agree.

What the other person sees

A request such as "asks to set your check-in to every 6 hours, with 30 minutes before an alert," with the exact values. Saying yes applies exactly that setup; after that, the helper can adjust those settings within the safety limits without asking again. The person can Take it back at any time.

What it does not do

Setting somebody's check-in does not show you anything about them: not whether they have checked in, not where they were, not who they told. To be told when they go quiet, you must be one of their safety contacts, which is a separate yes.

Who it is for

Parents of teenagers and adult children helping a parent are common examples. It requires the Household plan. Chillswitch requires users to be at least 13.
